Dr. Kirsty Duncan is the Member of Parliament for the riding of Etobicoke-North and the Minister of Science. She is a medical geographer by trade and is internationally recognized as a leading expert in pandemic influenza, environmental change, and its impact on human health. Kirsty is a fierce defender of the environment, having served on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, an organization which won the Nobel Prize in 2007. Prior to entering politics, she was an associate professor at the University of Toronto, University of Windsor and Royal Roads University, where she taught global environmental processes and medical geography. Though she is often focused on international affairs, Kirsty is passionate about building a thriving community in Etobicoke-North. She sits on the board of the St. Andrew’s Society of Toronto and the Toronto Foundation for School Success. She also chaired Feeding Toronto’s Hungry Students Week in 2007 and regularly supports programs that provide food, shelter, and education to Toronto’s youth.
